Have a look at this beautiful quilt that Dorris has just completed.

Dorris said that this quilt is called the "Caswell Quilt" and this quilt has taken her two years to complete. The quilt is all needle turn applique. The quilt is approximately 72 x 83 and the following is the story of this quilt.

The quilt was inspired by the Caswell Carpet made by Zeruah Guernsey between 1832-1835. In the early nineteenth century, American women often used their leisure time to embroider rugs, and one of the most famous is the Caswell Carpet. Zeruah made this entire carpet from wool she sheared from her father's sheep. The spun, dyed and wove the fabric base, and then embroidered each square. She married Memri Caswell 11 years after completion and this is why it is know as the Caswell Carpet. The carpet is owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Dorris said that she will treasure this quilt forever.
