Response from the Grand Forks Seniors Society Board to Square One Quilters re Cancelation of dates.
Thank you so much for getting in touch and sharing your thoughts with us. The Board has read your email carefully, and we’d like to offer the following response.
We completely understand that when you first approached us about using the hall, your hope was to have two six-hour time slots. With our busy calendar of community programs, the times you were offered are the best we can provide right now.
We also appreciate that the cancellations in October and November, due to the Interior Health Flu Clinic and our Society’s General Meeting, were disappointing.When programs are affected by special circumstances, we’re unable to offer replacement time slots simply because our schedule is already full. However, as your facilitator has a key to the centre, you’re welcome to begin your sessions earlier on the first Thursday of each month, from 7 or 8 am if that helps.
As a community-focused centre, our policy is that all programs remain open to the public so that anyone can join in. Drop-in fees are $2 for members and $3 for non-members. Your facilitator receives a key and full guidance on the centre’s rules to help everything run smoothly.
If your group prefers to keep sessions private and would like two six-hour time slots, the option available would be to rent the hall. The only day currently open for rentals is Saturday, at a rate of $25 per hour (or $250 for bookings over four hours). In this case, no drop-in fees would be collected.
We’re committed to being a seniors’ centre that welcomes our community inclusively, Monday through Friday and on Sundays. Our programs are run by volunteers who love creating opportunities for connection, creativity, and friendship.We appreciate that your group would like to continue meeting in the centre and we hope this helps clarify how our centre operates so we can continue to provide your group the space.We would like to point out that your December session does fall on Christmas Day, and while that date remains available, it’s entirely up to your group whether you wish to meet then.Warm regards,
