Barb's made this quilt for her grand-daughter.  Denim fabric used to create this quilt

Appliqued Calla Lily table-runner out-lined with a satin stitch 

made my Dorris.

While calla lilies are typically associated with a sense of purity and beauty, the meaning of the flower can differ slightly depending on the colour of the flower. With so many types of calla lilies, there are plenty of striking colours to choose from.

Let’s take a closer look at the different colours calla lilies come in, and meaning behind each one:

• White calla lilies are symbolic of innocence and youth
• Yellow calla lilies symbolise a sense of gratitude
• Pink calla lilies are symbols of romance, love and appreciation
• Like most other purple flowers, purple calla lilies represent royalty, loyalty, wisdom and admiration
• Beautiful black calla lilies symbolise elegance, beauty and mystery, much like other black flowers
• Red calla lilies are symbols of courage and determination.

Fiona Rindler Shares her beautiful quilt with Square One

Thought I would share my first free motion quilt that I did while visiting my mom. I had the top done for a while and wasn't sure how I was going to do the quilting, so mom said bring it up and we will see what we can do.  Dorris was kind enough to order me the fabric for the back.  After doing some rearranging of tables in mom's sewing room I sat down at the machine,  I took a big breath and started quilting.  I am proud to say that I did every stitch on this quilt. I absolutely love how it turned out.
